April Comic Books / Cómics de abril

April sure was a month devoted mostly to Image Comics. And how could it be otherwise with titles like The Wicked + The Divine (nominated for the Eisner Awards), Velvet (one of Ed Brubaker’s best works with exquisite art by Steve Epting), The Autumlands: Tooth & Claw (winner of the 2014 Arion's Achievement Award for Best New Series) and Kirkman’s Invincible (such an enjoyable title, and much better than The Walking Dead, which I stopped reading a long time ago). However, probably the best issue of the month was Jupiter’s Circle # 1 by Mark Millar (I must write a review about it). And now, without further ado, here are April comics as per solicitations:

ALL NEW X-FACTOR #14
(W) Peter David (A) Carmine Di Giandomenico (CA) Jared K. Fletcher, Kris Anka • Quicksilver is reunited with his daughter, Luna... • ...But THE INHUMANS are not too happy about it! • PLUS: could Warlock make a move on Danger?

AUTUMNLANDS TOOTH & CLAW #5
(W) Kurt Busiek (A/CA) Ben Dewey. The conspirators make their move, but the Champion has a few surprises for them.

CHRONONAUTS #2 (MR)
(W) MARK MILLAR (A/CA) SEAN GORDON MURPHY. Corbin Quinn and Danny Reilly have become the world's first time travelers - but not all goes according to plan when the two go rogue in their own era-hopping adventure! With the world watching, the buddies get mixed up in an eon's worth of sticky situations while some of history's scariest villains - and their bosses back in the present day - are determined to track them down!

CROSSED PLUS 100 #4 American History X Wrap Cvr (MR)
As the layers of the mystery begin to unravel, Future Taylor goes to compare notes with an archivist from another settlement. All the evidence points to an impossible conclusion. One that seems so radical, Future has to search out the final answers on her own. Alan Moore, the man who revolutionized the comics medium, returns to monthly comics and puts his unique stamp upon the Crossed universe, as he and artist Gabriel Andrade paint a vivid picture of the future 100 years after the outbreak! This multi-layered story delivers a new brand of horror to Crossed fans at the hands of the scribe that redefined the comics medium. This masterwork is a self-contained whole new world; no prior knowledge of the Crossed series is needed. All the covers for the series have been planned out by Alan Moore, with the images enriching and expanding on the series. Clues and glimpses of what came before, and what might be, are found throughout the variant covers. American History X Wraparound - Each of these will depict a specific time in the past hundred years, showing how things have changed and offering a peek at some key events. Each cover will display the year in which it takes place to help build the full picture. Crossed Culture - These are all images of how the Crossed have changed the way they live. With few humans left to hunt, and the animal kingdom thriving with predators, even the thrill-driven Crossed have had to make adjustments to their lifestyle. Future Tense - Each cover is a homage to a famous work of science fiction, and each of those original works ties into themes of this series. New World Order Wraparound - These are not for the faint of heart or delicate of constitution. We can't even picture them in this catalog, they are visions of what an ideal all-Crossed world would be. If the madmen have their dreams come true, what would the everyday life look like® These covers are brutally intense images of true horror and may have scenes of torture, depravity, and nudity. These are clearly for adults only. Each copy of this edition will ship in a sealed polybag with a protective slip cover over the actual image to assure it can be racked in stores. The graphic pictured here is the slip cover only. Due to all these special protective measures this edition is strictly limited to initial orders. Also available with Retailer Incentive covers of Red Crossed and Design Sketch, showing the original works of series artist Gabriel Andrade. Don't miss out on the ultra-rare CGC Numbered Edition as well!

INVINCIBLE #118
(W) Robert Kirkman (A/CA) Ryan Ottley. Invincible and Atom Eve set off on the adventure of a lifetime: PARENTHOOD! They've taken to the stars and left their troubles on Earth behind them. As things take a drastic turn for our heroes, you'll find yourself asking...is this book still about superheroes?

JUPITER'S CIRCLE #1 (MR)
(W) Mark Millar (A) Wilfredo Torres (C) Frank Quitely. The most celebrated superheroes in mid-century America seem to have it all-fame, riches, adoration-but tensions simmer beneath the glossy surface, threatening to crack open the secrets behind their public AND private exploits. Before the family dynasty in JUPITER'S LEGACY began, there was JUPITER'S CIRCLE-a story about a team whose personal dramas collide with super-powered spectacle!

NAMELESS #3 (MR)
(W) Grant Morrison (A/CA) Chris Burnham. As the exploration of vast structures on the surface of the asteroid Xibalba begins, more nightmarish secrets of a prehistoric cosmic war come crawling into the light. What soul-destroying truth lies buried in Xibalba's immense tunnel network? What malignancies lie dreaming there? What is human? And what is NOT?

VELVET #6 (MR)
(W) Ed Brubaker (A/CA) Steve Epting. THE SECOND ARC BEGINS HERE! Following the revelations at the end of issue 5, Velvet's quest for the truth and her innocence takes her right back to the heart of her own organization -- to London, where every move she makes is even more dangerous than the last!

WICKED & DIVINE #9 (MR)
It's time for a private audience with Ananke, she who has protected and judged the Pantheon for thousands of years. Yes, it's time for an interview... with an umpire. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Also: Baphomet being all goth and having a nice little mope.

ALL NEW X-FACTOR #14
